The barn was built in 1868 and converted into living accommodation by the current owners. It has retained many of its original features, including exposed wooden beams, stone walls and the staircase. The farm has been in the family since the early 1700s and is part of a 95 acre holding. The owner Jim Stewart, his Dutch wife Juliette and their teenage son Alan, live in the main farm house adjacent to the barn, but lived in the barn until recently. The farm is located in classic rolling Co. Down countryside. Guests can go for walks on the farm, which boasts beautiful views of the Mourne Mountains and surrounding country side. Since early 2008 there is also an opportunity to enjoy coarse fishing in the farm lake. As part of the accommodation you can use the enclosed Orchard Garden
to have a quiet read, enjoy the scenery, have a picnic or play with your
children. (Garden furniture and Barbeque available). The Barn is only 1.5 miles from Balloo Village, which has everything to fulfil your immediate needs; Post Office, Cash Machine, Grocery Stores, Tearoom, Hairdresser, Restaurant, Pub, etc. Many sporting and leisure pursuit facilities nearby (e.g. golf, sailing, fishing, walking, horse riding, cycling, bird watching, tennis, swimming and shooting). |
