From Belfast International Airport (Aldergrove) follow the signs to
Belfast via the M2 Motorway. On reaching the city stay on the M2/M3
following the signs for Bangor on the A2 - you will pass the City Airport
on your left - follow directions for Belfast City Airport, (see below)

From Belfast City Airport (see Airport on the map)
Exit the Airport via the main exit and turn left onto the dual carriage way A2 ( Bangor) (Note: there is no right turn here) - Do not exit the airport by going under the underpass following the signs for Belfast.
Once on the A2, work your way towards the lane furthest on your right and
follow the A55 (Outer Ring).
When you come to the traffic lights, you’ll have to make a big
U-Turn and work your way into the left lane, after
you see a big Tesco Supermarket straight
ahead, (this is in the middle of the U-Turn, so make sure you finish the U-Turn)
and then at the next lights turn left (still staying on the A55 Outer Ring)
Keep following the A55, going straight on at the next roundabout.
At the next lights, turn left towards Comber (A22)
At the 6th Traffic Light, you will see the restaurant ‘The Elk Inn’ and you turn to your right towards Comber again.
You continue on this road (do not turn off anywhere!!) until, after about 10 minutes, you come to a roundabout on the outskirts of Comber.
Go ¾ around the roundabout and keep following the A22.This time towards Killinchy/Killyleagh.
After about 10 minutes you will come to the Village of Balloo. Go past Balloo House, a bar/restaurant (which is on your left), until you come to the end of the 30 mph speed limit of Balloo Village. (Ignore the brown sign with “The Barn at Ballymacashen” on it)
Just after the “end of 30 mile limit” sign, take a right turn towards Raffrey. At the same place there will be a brown sign with “The Old Barn” on it.
This is the Thornyhill Road. Put your milometer on and after 1.3 miles you will see numbers 60 & 62 on your left hand side (opposite the Ballymacashen Road)
You have arrived!!
From Belfast Port - depending on which ferry route you are on look out for signs for Bangor (A2) as you exit the docks and follow these. A few miles out of the city you will pass the City Airport on your left - follow directions for Belfast City Airport (see above) from here.
From Larne Port follow the signs for Belfast via A8, onto then M2/ M3. When you see the sign for Bangor on the A2 follow it. You will pass the Belfast City Airport on your left - follow directions for Belfast City Airport (see above) from here.
From Dublin Airport and the South - Take the M1 from Dublin signposted Dundalk, Belfast & the North. Stay on this road (toll €1.60) to Dundalk. In Dundalk follow the ring road signed Newry & Belfast (a new by-pass is being constructed but at the time of writing is not open).
Crossing the border continue to follow the signs for Belfast, bypassing Newry and head for Banbridge and Belfast on the A1. Keep going for about 30 mins until you reach a roundabout at Hillsborough. Go straight on and after about 2 miles turn left following the signs for Belfast M1 and join the motorway. Go 1 junction (just over 1 mile) and exit at the Lisburn exit. From here take the exit from the motorway roundabout signposted Ballynahinch and Saintfield. Following the directions from Lisburn from here (see below).
From Lisburn
At the junction with the M1 Motorway take the exit to Ballynahinch & Saintfield. Follow this road (A49) for about 2.8 miles and turn left signposted Comber & Saintfield onto the B6.
Carry on until you reach a staggered X-roads over a major road, Go straight across (right then left) this junction, Watch !! .... the traffic on the main road can be very fast, and continue on to Saintfield.
In Saintfield go straight at the mini roundabout (Main Street) and down through the town. Keep going straight through 2 sets of traffic lights.
After about 2 miles the road takes a sharp right turn, with a road turning off to the left signposted Killinchy. Take this left turn and proceed, past the fishing lake on your right, to the next junction, a staggered X-roads. Go "straight" across following the sign for Killinchy (Kilcairn Road) and after 1.7 miles, take the 3rd on the right, (Ballymacashen Road).
There is a church on the corner.
Number 60 & 62 Thornyhill Road are opposite the end of the Ballymacashen Road where it meets the Thornyhill Road at the T-Junction.
